Our stock
Because reclaimed materials are unique and individual, it is impossible to list our stock holding as this can change from day to day. We do however hold a large amount of beams and flooring, both new and reclaimed. Read more...
Reclaimed Pine
All our boards are hand sanded to retain all the character and patina they have developed over the past 100 plus years. This is a very time consuming and painstaking process but it’s the only way to do the job properly. It also gives us control over how much we actually sand off as this can vary from client to client, it depends on how light or dark you want the finished floor to be. As every board has its own character and shape, if you put them through a big sanding machine this just strips all the character and individuality out of the board and makes them all a bit to uniform and kind of defeats the object of buying reclaimed boards. All this work gives the client a truly bespoke service tailored especially to suit their own individual needs.
We machine them to all the same thickness by planing down the underside of the board that isn’t seen, this then gives a uniform thickness and doesn’t affect the face of the board that will be on show, and also provides a smooth clean surface so the boards can either be glued or fixed down. We also re –machine the edges so the boards fit together well and the joints are all even.
After the boards have been sanded we then offer clients a wide range of finishes on the boards so they are totally ready to be fitted and need no further work to be done on them.
Samples can be sent out and when placing an order for one of our pre- finished floors, these are usually approx 8 inches long, however we recommend clients who can to pay a visit the yard to see the larger sample boards in our showroom, and when this is not possible, order a larger sample panel the cost of which will be deducted from the overall price when placing the order.
We like to do this as it can be difficult buying a product like reclaimed flooring over the internet and its best for everyone involved to make sure all problems or misunderstandings and interpretations of colour and texture that may arise are ironed out at the very start of the job.
Also, if you require replacement boards for existing floors we can cut our boards down to exactly your size.
Pitch Pine
All our pitch pine flooring is re-sawn from old beams salvaged from mills, schools, warehouses etc. To convert the beams into floorboards is a very time consuming and labour intensive process so if you are looking to order pitch pine flooring make sure you have allowed enough time for the timber to be machined and ready to be sent out to site. As we do everything in our own sawmill you can specify widths and thickness to suit your requirement’s if for instance you are repairing areas of an existing floor.
Oak Flooring
We offer a wide range of solid oak flooring. You can specify long lengths or go for ends matched to reduce overall waste. Also we do a lot of antique bespoke finishes to give a truly authentic and aged look to the boards. Everything is produced by us so we have total control over all aspects of the job. All oak is FSC certified. Widths are 140mm, 180mm and 200mm and 20mm thick and also ends matched. There are lots of different finishes available if you are looking to buy a pre-finished floor and all work is carried out by us in our mill and workshops.
New Ideas
We are now designing and making furniture out of our products using the concept of mixing new materials with old. This gives items a contemporary and sharp look that will fit into any space. Our philosophy is to use uncomplicated design with traditional construction methods to achieve functional and user-friendly pieces that have all been individually manufactured. This is a truly bespoke service that offers clients to have the chance to own something that has been made from materials that have already stood the test of time.
Distressed Oak
We offer these aged and antique looking new character grade Oak floors as a more cost effective and easier to fit option to our reclaimed Oak flooring. These can be supplied in widths up to 15 inches wide when stock is available; we always keep boards in stock up to 12 inches. These can be supplied with various different finishes and textures to give a worn and uneven surface. All the work is done by hand and by us in our workshop .Every single piece of floorboard is worked on individually to give a total bespoke look, each board is slightly different. Also these boards come in a wide range of finishes so all you need to do is fit them on site.
