Boston Wide Pine boards arrive

Last year we bought all the timber from an old dock warehouse over in Boston. This was full of some very beautiful original antique pine wide floorboards and beams.
They are approx 11 inches wide and long lengths up to 4m
We have had them in the mill where we have re-machined all the edges, got them all the same thickness and have developed some very special finishes for them.
All the surfaces have been hand sanded and pre-finished in our usual way to produce some beautiful floorboards that would grace any either modern or period home.
These come in 3 different colour finishes, natural, medium and limed, in either wax or oil, depending on the room its being fitted in.
These boards do have nail holes in them, we can leave them as they are or fill them, you decide.
The cost for these is £65 m2 plus vat

Really successful trip down to London last week.Had a look around the Decorex show,some great products on display there.
The big news for us is we now have a fab store in London where you can view some of our furniture and floorboards.
Its called Fringe@Studio108 and the address is 108 Alexandra Park Road, Muswell Hill, London N10 2AE .

Reclaimed Pine bench and table tops

We have just completed work on some reclaimed pine bench and table tops for a very well know coffee shop/restaurant chain who are very keen on using recycled timber as part of their green policy
They were made from reclaimed beams we salvaged from a mill, then cut down to size in our workshops, glued together and hand sanded to retain all the characteristics you would expect from reclaimed timber but smooth enough to sit on and eat off.Hardwax oil finish to protect them

We can make these any size so if you like the look of them and are in the market for something similar give us a call.

Gannex Mill

We are very pleasd to have been offered the chance to buy,which we jumped at,all the floorboards salvaged from the famous Gannex Mill, one of Calderdale’s most iconic textile landmarks.
Here they produced the famous Gannex raincoats, which was favoured by former Labour Prime Minister Harold Wilson.
The boards are stunning and have a beautiful patina on them afrer a light sand and look fantastic with either a clear wax or oil or a whilte oil.

We have just supplied some of our reclaimed pine flooring and furniture for a photo shoot for Ian Mankin fabrics.They have decided to stock some of our range so keep your eye out on their website or visit there London store to purchase these.

We are currently working with the fabulous photographer Lyndsey James. She is one of the best interior and product photographers in the country and we are lucky enough to be featuring some of our furniture in her forthcoming book due out later this year. Lyndsey teaches the skills of creative product photography to designers and crafters and is sharing her lessons, tips and ideas in what will be an essential guide for anyone wanting to take better product shots.

Couple of things happened over this last year so just thought it could be worth mentioning on our blog.We have had a few people recently who have been in contact as they have ordered and in some cases purchased floorboards off ebay sites and other internet based businesses and the boards have been poor quality when delivered
A few tips that were published in one of the magazines we sometimes get asked to write for are
1) If possible always visit the yard and get a feel for the company and what they are doing.Its one thing having a great website but its also good to see if some of these people actually exist and are doing what they claim to be.
We had an issue last year with a website,another northern company,they had copied some of our pictures and text and built a website around that.Turned out it was just a guy working from home buying and selling and making out he was doing the same as us .
2) Buy the boards at least hand sanded,belive me this will work out cheaper/easier in the long run.95% of all boards we sell now are totally pre-finished so all thats is needed is fitting
3)Try to deal with a well established business, demolition/salvage companies can sometimes be here one minute and gone the next.
4) Make sure you know exactly what you are buying if you cant visit the yard,get as much info as possible and dont get fobed off if you ask lots of questions.We spend lots of time going through each job with each client as everybody isnt looking for the same thing.
Follow these tips and you shouldnt have any problems with buying reclaimed

We have just bought in excess of 13,000sq metres of 8 inch wide reclaimed pine boards salvaged from a mill being demolished in Lancashire.Lovely patina on them and and nice and worn.We will be selling them totaly refurbished and finished .Lengths up to 4m
