Victorian Woodworks Stock

First truck arrived into the yard today rammed full of reclaimed flooring stock we bought from the late great Victorian Woodworks.Sad to see the company slip into administration and we wish Declan all the best with any plans he has for the future.Its difficult to say how much stock we have actually bought off them but I reckon its in excess of 15 huge lorry loads,and the stuff is absolutely beautiful.1000′s of square metres of Fleet Street and Canary Wharf pine.

Some very nice reclaimed Oak and some gorgeous Russian Oak strip flooring.Once this kind of stuff is gone,you will never see it again,it really is once in a lifetime stuff.Great provenance on all of it.
Its going to take us all next week to move it but we will be listing everything on the website as it comes into the yard.
We plan to turn some of it into our new range of engineered floorboards for clients with underfloor heating and solid sub floors.
I doubt there will be anyone with larger stock levels certainly in the North of the U.K.possibly in the whole of the country.Clients are more than welcome to visit the yard to view our stock and even see the lads work on your own personal order.As always here at Lawsons we pride ourselves in doing all work to our reclaimed timber in house so the quality is never compromised and we keep total control of every stage of the job.

Manor House Renovation

We have just been involved in supplying some of our Manor House Brown and Manor House Vintage oak flooring along with some of our Oak beams and doors to a beautiful 17th century farmhouse renovation.The client had added an extension and had gone to great lengths, to ensure the character of the original house was not lost and asked us to provide floorboards,beams and doors that look totally original.We gave our advice and were lucky to have a client that understood just what was needed and gave us the all clear to create and supply products that look like they have been in the property since it was built.The result is truly magnificent.

New Bar Just Completed

We have just finished working on a very cool new bar, The ChaletBar in Liverpool city centre.The client came to us through a reccomendation from another bar owner in Lancashire we have done previous work for.His brief was to help him create the interior of a ski lodge,so very rustic wall cladding,bar and flooring.We knew exactly what he was trying to do so advised him what we thought would be the best products to achieve this.Careful hand sanding and pre-finishing of all the reclaimed timber so as not to remove to much patina from the boards but obviously get the timber very smooth to touch was paramount in getting the job right.The finished effect really is stunning and is a great advert as to what can be achieved with some vision and using great products like our reclaimed timber.We also made the tables out of some Oak tree trunks,very cool.

Hand Made Engineered Reclaimed Oak Flooring

We have just received an order for this beautiful reclaimed Oak in an engineered version for one of the grand terrace town houses of Wilton Crescent, Belgravia, London.The client needed the boards to be engineered due to his underfloor heating and wanted something special rather than all the standard Oak flooring that is currently on the market.We sent many samples to make sure the client and his design team were totally happy before signing off on the final finish.
This is a truly bespoke floor and we would expect clients to be aware of lead times and costs before undertaking the process of preparing samples.

Boston Wide Pine boards arrive

Last year we bought all the timber from an old dock warehouse over in Boston. This was full of some very beautiful original antique pine wide floorboards and beams.
They are approx 11 inches wide and long lengths up to 4m
We have had them in the mill where we have re-machined all the edges, got them all the same thickness and have developed some very special finishes for them.
All the surfaces have been hand sanded and pre-finished in our usual way to produce some beautiful floorboards that would grace any either modern or period home.
These come in 3 different colour finishes, natural, medium and limed, in either wax or oil, depending on the room its being fitted in.
These boards do have nail holes in them, we can leave them as they are or fill them, you decide.
The cost for these is £65 m2 plus vat

Really successful trip down to London last week.Had a look around the Decorex show,some great products on display there.
The big news for us is we now have a fab store in London where you can view some of our furniture and floorboards.
Its called Fringe@Studio108 and the address is 108 Alexandra Park Road, Muswell Hill, London N10 2AE .

Reclaimed Pine bench and table tops

We have just completed work on some reclaimed pine bench and table tops for a very well know coffee shop/restaurant chain who are very keen on using recycled timber as part of their green policy
They were made from reclaimed beams we salvaged from a mill, then cut down to size in our workshops, glued together and hand sanded to retain all the characteristics you would expect from reclaimed timber but smooth enough to sit on and eat off.Hardwax oil finish to protect them

We can make these any size so if you like the look of them and are in the market for something similar give us a call.

Gannex Mill

We are very pleasd to have been offered the chance to buy,which we jumped at,all the floorboards salvaged from the famous Gannex Mill, one of Calderdale’s most iconic textile landmarks.
Here they produced the famous Gannex raincoats, which was favoured by former Labour Prime Minister Harold Wilson.
The boards are stunning and have a beautiful patina on them afrer a light sand and look fantastic with either a clear wax or oil or a whilte oil.
